          Be It Known, That on the 18th day of August A.D., 1852, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court before the Judge thereof, John Bensheimer an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that be is a native of Germany aged about 33 years, and owes allegiance to Hesse Dormstadt that he emigrated thence, embarked at Harve DeGrace and arrived at New York in the United States; on the 20th day of May A.D., 1847, and that it is bona fide his intention to reside in and become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever All Allegiance And Fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to Lewis 3d King of Hesse Dormstadt.
          Sworn and subscribed the 18th day of August 1852.

          In Testimony Whereof, I Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, hereunto set my name and the seal of said Court the above date.
