County of Shelby   SS

          Be It Known, That on the 17th day of August A.D., 1852, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court before the Judge thereof,  Peter Houser  an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that he is a native of Germany aged about 32 years, and owes allegiance to the Grand Duke of Hesse Castle that he emigrated thence, embarked at Bremen and arrived at Baltimore in the United States, on the 28th day of May A.D., 1845, and that is bona fide his intention to reside in and become  A  CITIZEN  OF  THE  UNITED  STATES, and to renounce forever All Allegiance and Fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State of Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to William, Grand Duke of Hesse Castle.
          Sworn and subscribed the 17th day of August 1852.

          In Testimony Whereof, I Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, hereunto set my name and seal of said Court the above date.
