            This Indenture made this fifth day of September in the year of Our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and thirty three between William Eddy & Jane Eddy of the County of Johnson and state of Indiana of the one part and William Smith & Thomas F. Randolph of the county of Shelby and State of Indiana of the other part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars lawful money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said party of the first part hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the Second part and their heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land the west half of the Southwest quarter Section Twenty three Township No Eleven Range Six (and the East half of the Southwest quarter Section Twenty three) and also the East half of the North West quarter of Section twenty six Township No. Eleven and Range six To have and to hold The above described premises hereby sold and conveyed unto the said William Smith and Thomas F Randolph their heirs and assigns forever together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to their own proper use and behoof And the said William Eddy for his heirs executors and administrators the aforesaid Lot or tract of land and appurtenances to the said William Smith and Thomas F Randolph their heirs executors and administrators against the claim or claims of all and every person whatever will covenant and forever defend In Testimony Whereof the said William Eddy and Jane Eddy hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written

            Personally appeared before me the undersigned one of the Justices of the Peace William Eddy and acknowledged the deed of conveyance to which this is annexed to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned And also Jane Eddy the wife of the said William Eddy being separately examined apart from her said husband and the full contents and purposes of the above deed being made known to her she did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord and as her act and deed seal and deliver the said deed and conveyance without any coercion or compulsion from her husband Given under my hand and seal this fifth day of September 18 33

            I Samuel _____ clerk of the Circuit Court for the County of Johnson in the State of Indiana certify that N____ Seybold before whom the within deed was acknowledged is and was at the time of taking the same one our acting Justices of the Peace duly commissioned and qualified in and for said County and that due faith and credit is due all his official acts as such In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said Court at Franklin this Sixth day of September A D 1833.
