Badger

This indenture witnesseth that  Robert Badger  of Shelby County and State of Indiana hath put and placed and by these presents doth put and bind out his daughter  July Ann Badger  a minor aged thirteen years and five months and the said July Ann Badger doth hereby put place and bind out herself to  Elijah F. Fleming.   The said July Ann to dwell with and serve the said Elijah F. Fleming from the day of the date hereof untill the Twenty second day of May which will be in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty six at which time the said July Ann if she shall be living will be Eighteen years of age.  During all which time the said July Ann shall well and faithfully serve here said master and everywhere at all times readily obey his lawful commands she shall do no damage to her said master, nor w [missing word/s] suffer any to be done by others and if any to her knowledge [missing word/s]  ...tended.  She shall give her said master reasonable notice thereof she shall not waste the goods of her said master nor lend them unlawfully to any.  She shall not absent herself from the service of her said master without his consent but shall in all things and in all things and at all times in a proper manner behave herself during the whole term aforesaid and the said Elijah F. Fleming on his part doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Robert Badger and July Ann Badger that he will give the said July Ann fifteen months schooling during the said term and cause her to be taught and instructed to read and write and to understand and use arithmetic as far as the double rule of three inclusive of the said July Ann e capable to learn during the said term of fifteen months schooling and also that he will find and provide for the said July Ann good and sufficient meet drink lodging and appearal and other necessary suitable and proper for the said July Ann during he term aforesaid.  In Testimony where of the said parties have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the first day of November in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty one.

Fleming came this day personally before me the undersigned a Notary Public within and for the County and State above mentioned and severally acknowledged the within Indenture to be their Voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein specified.  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand an affixed my Notorial seal this first day of November A D 1851
