            Know all men by these presents that we  Silas Leak & Louisa Leak  formerly  Louisa Morris  of Owen County State of Indiana hereby constitute and appoint  Jesse Morris  of same County and State, our true and lawful Attorney for us and in our names to receive and receipt for all moneys due us in the County of Shelby State of Indiana, particularly any and all sums that may be due and coming to us from the Estate of  Archibald Gordon  deceased of said County of Shelby, the said Louisa being a grand daughter of said Gordon dec’d.  And we hereby authorize him the said Jesse Morris to receive the same from the Clerk of the Courts of Common Pleas or any other person in whose hands the same may be and is now remaining, and to sign for us any receipt or release for same.

Guardian's  Report


            William N. Bennett Guardian of  Louisa Leak, Nancy E. Hackdman, Polly Ann Morris, Harriett Morris, Eliza J. Morris and James W. Morris minor heirs of Francis Morris late of Shelby County Indiana deceased, would respectfully represent to the Court of Common pleas of Shelby County that on the 4th day of December 1856 he took out Letters of Guardianship, and that there came into his hands from the
sale of certain real estate on the Jany 31st 1857 $112.50
And on 31st July 1858 second payment with interest       119.25
Interest up to August 9th 1858      10.50
$242.25

Amount brought over

     29.74
$212.51

            The above account towit $212.51 has to be divided between six heirs, coming to each heir the sum of $35.40
            One of said heirs being of age on the 9th August 1858 Towit Louisa Leak, said Guardian paid to her the sum of $35.35 the same being in full for her share of the moneys in said Guardians hands belonging to said ward, which receipt said Guardian herewith files and asks the Court to discharge him as such guardian as far as the said Louisa Leak is concerned.  And as to the moneys belonging to said wards still remaining in said Guardians hands he makes the following report, as per third page of this report.

            I  Jesse Morris  A citizen of Owen County & state of Indiana, acting by power of Attorney from Silas & Louisa Leak have this day received of William N. Bennett Guardian of the minor heirs of Frances Morris deceased who was one of the heirs of Archibald Gordon deceased Thirty five dollars & thirty cents it being the said Louisa Leaks full & equal share, and all that she is entitled to in the said Archibald Gordons estate. August 9th 1858
