Will  of

Jacob  Kratzer


Know all men by these presents that I  Jacob Kratzer  of Shelby County & State of Indiana being of sound mind do hereby make this my last will and testament hereby evoking all wills heretofore made by me.

First    I will and bequeath unto my oldest son  Benjamin Kratser  one hundred fifty Dollars.  I will & bequeath unto my second son  Eli Kratser  One hundred & fifty dollars.  Thirdly, I will and bequeath unto  Lamuel Kratser  three hundred dollars.  I also will and bequeath unto Samuel Kratser  my fourth son, three Hundred dollars.  I also bequeath unto  John Kratser  my fifth son Three Hundred dollars.     Also I bequeath unto  Dala Kratser  three Hundred Dollars.  I likewise will & bequeath unto my daughters as follows:
            I first bequeath to the heirs of  Laurana Kauble  two hundred Dollars.
            Secondly, I bequeath unto the heirs of my daughter  Mary Kauble  two hundred Dollars.  Thirdly, I bequeath unto my daughter  Delila Corwine  two hundred dollars.  Fourthly I bequeath unto my daughter,  Rachel Lee  two hundred dollars.  lastly, I bequeath to the heirs of my youngest daughter, being four in number, five dollars each in consideration of their having been paid one hundred & thirty-five dollars.

            I hereby make and ordain  Horatio N. Lord  executor of this my last will & testament.  In witness whereof I,  Jacob Kratser  the testator, have hereunto set my hand & Seal this twenty first day of March One thousand eight hundred & fifty three.

Signed, sealed, published & declared by the above named Jacob Kratser as his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the testator and in the presence of each other.

Whereas I  Jacob Kratser
of Shelby County & State of Indiana having made and duly executed my last will & testament in writing bearing date the twenty first day of March eighteen hundred & fifty three  Now I do, hereby declare his present writing to be a codicile to the said will and direct the same to be annexed thereto and taken as a part thereof and I do hereby do give and bequeath the remainder of my money

that I may have on hand at my death in the same proportion as I have heretofore bequeathed to my children.  In witness whereof I the said Jacob Kratser have to this codicil set my hadn and seal this twenty first day of March eighteen hundred & fifty three.

                            Whereas I  Jacob Kratser of Shelby County & State of Indiana having made & duly executed my last will & testament in writing bearing date the 21st of March Eighteen hundred & fifty three.     Now I do hereby declare this resent writing to be a codicil to the said will & direct the same to be annexed thereto & taken as a part thereof after due consideration I wish to attest my will in regard to my son  Eli Kratser  & I now will & bequeath unto him two dollars and fifty cents and I likewise bequeath unto  Benjamin Kratser  One hundred and fifty dollars besides his former portions  I likewise will that the heirs of my oldest daughter  Laurana  shall have  One dollar each and likewise I will that the heirs of my daughter  Mary  have One dollar each and likewise I will & bequeath unto the heirs of my youngest daughter  Sarah A. White  One dollar each and if there should be any money left after paying out the said Legacies and the expenses  I will it should be equally divided among my four sons  Benjamin  Lemuel  Samuel  &  Dala.    In witness whereof I the said Jacob Kratser have to this codicil set my hand & seal this fifteenth day of June,  Eighteen hundred & fifty three ---

                                    I Alonzo Blair  clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of said County certify that the within last will of Jacob Kratser late of Shelby County deceased has been duly administered to probate; that its due execution was this day proven by Lucious Walton and William Rosberry, who  proofs together with such will have duly recorded on page 48 & 49 of the record of wills in my Office ~ ~ ~
