Shelby County SS:

In the Matter of the Estate of  Abel Vanscyoc, deceased
          To the Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court:-
                    To the Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court:-
                              Whereas Abel Vanscyoc late of Shelby County, Indiana, died testate in said County on the 19th day of August 1919, and on the 2nd day of October 1917 said decedent executed his last Will and Testament disposing of all of his property, real and personal, and his said last Will was duly probated in the office of the Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court on the 26th day of August 1919 and said last Will and the probate thereof was duly recorded in the office of said Clerk of said day in Will Record No. 7 page 418 & 419:  Now I, the undersigned,  Melissa J. Vanscyoc,  being the surviving widow of said testator hereby elect to take the property devised and bequeathed to me by said last Will of my said deceased husband instead of any property or rights or interest in any property of my said deceased husband which I might have or claim under the laws of descent of the State of Indiana as his surviving wife and widow, and hereby elect to take and accept the provisions made for me as such surviving widow by the said last Will of my said deceased husband in full and in lieu of any provisions, claims, rights or interest I might have or take in the estate of my said deceased husband under any of the laws of the State of Indiana, hereby waiving any claim I might have to my Statutory allowance under the laws of said State as widow and hereby ratify and accept the provisions made for me under said Will in full of all my rights and interest in the estate of my said deceased husband.

          Before me, the undersigned, a Notary Public, in and for said County and State personally appeared the above named Melissa J. Vanscyoc who acknowledged the execution of the above and foregoing instrument of election as her voluntary act and deed.
