Jacob  Reed
 

Book 1 pages 430 & 431
              I Jacob Reed of Noble Township Shelby County Indiana do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

Item first. I direct that all my just debts be paid out of the first money which may come into the hands of my executor.

Item Second
. I give and devise to my beloved wife  Eliza Reed  in lieu of her interest in my land the use of all my land being the Farm on which I now reside containing one hundred and twenty acres during her natural life and all the stock, household goods furniture, provisions and other goods and chattels which may be thereon at the time of my decease together with all moneys which I may have on hand, at the time of my death to be used by her for her support during her life  (She however selling as much of my personal property as will pay my debts) and at the death of my said wife all the property of which she may be seized as above bequeathed both real and personal is to be divided equally among my children who may out-live my said wife and should any of my children be dead at the time of the death of my wife leaving a child or children which will be my Grandchild or Grandchildren are to have the proportion of my said Estate which would have fell to the share of their deceased parent had he or she (as the case may be) been living at the time of the death of my said wife.
             And I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Eliza Reed my Executor of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking all my former wills heretofore by me made.
             In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fourteenth day of May 1875.

            Signed and acknowledged by said Jacob Reed as his last will and Testament in our presence and signed by us in his presence.

State of Indiana Shelby County SS 
            Be it remembered that on the 13” day of Sept 1875 John M. Buell one of the subscribing witnessed to the within and foregoing last will and Testament of Jacob Reed late of said county deceased personally appeared before John Sleeth Clk of the Circuit Court of Shelby County in the State of Indiana and being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court upon his oath declared and testified as follows, that is to say:  That on the 14th day of May 1875 he saw the said Jacob Reed sign his name to said instrument in writing as and for his last will and testament and that the said instrument in writing was at the same time at the request of the said Jacob Reed and with his consent attested and subscribed by the said  N. V. Shipman and John M. Buell in the presence of said testator and in the presence of each other as subscribing witnesses thereto and that the said Jacob Reed was at the time of the signing and subscribing of said instrument in writing as aforesaid of full age (that is more than twenty one years of age) and of sound and disposing mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint as the said deponent verily believes and further says not.

            Sworn to and subscribed by the said deponent before me John Elliott Clerk of said Court at Shelbyville the 13” day of Sept 1875.  In attestation whereof, I have unto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said Court.

            I John Elliott Clerk of the Circuit Court of Shelby County Indiana do hereby certify that the within annexed will and testament of Jacob Reed has been duly admitted to probate and duly proved by the testimony of John M. Buell one of the subscribing witnesses thereto that a complete record of said Will has been by me duly made and recorded in Book No. 1 page 430 & 431 of the Record of Wills of said County. 
            In attestation whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said Court at Shelbyville this 13” day of September 1875
