Surnames:  KING  STUBBS  MCDANIEL  KINNEY
From:  Sherry Mazzetti
29 Nov 2001
Want to know the relationship among the following KING individuals listed in the 1850 census of Shelby Co.: Richard T. KING who is married to an Elza (Elsa?);  Elza KING (male);  Elsie/Elsa (KING) STUBBS, the wife of Zepheniah STUBBS;  and Sarah (KING) MCDANIEL, the wife of James William MCDANIEL.  The last couple are my immediate ancestors.  Think Richard T. KING is either her brother or her cousin, but there are a lot of men named Richard KING.  I am nearly certain this is a second wife, and he married the first in KY.  Wonder if he might have had a married son named John.  I am less certain about the relationship with the others, but Sarah had a brother and son named ELZA--not this one, and there is a church connection between Zepeheniah STUBBS and my in-law KINNEY family.  Any help appreciated.  I will share what information I have.

Friday, January 11, 2002
I am searching for information on the Strahl's and McFerran's of Shelby County, IN. My great-grandparents were  Levant and Elizabeth Ann  (Strahl)  McFerran.  They owned about 180 acres in or near Marietta at the time Elizabeth's death in 1911.   I have found a newspaper clipping about Elizabeth Strahl's death and would like to find information about the death of my great-grandfather Levant who died in 1905. Apparently they were prominent citizens of Shelby County during that time but I cannot find much in the way of records.  I would like any information about them you may have and would also like information about where their land was located.  I don't think their house is still there.  I have also run into a dead end on information about my great-great-grandfather, Thomas McFerran who is buried in Miller Cemetery.  I will be glad to pay a fee for your services and any postage costs.  Please feel free to e-mail any information as well.  Thank you so much.  My address is 3373 Waddy Rd, Waddy, Ky. 40076.

Looking for further information on the family of  Hester M. Sep 1886,  Sarah H. b. Sep 1893, and  Arthur Johnson  b. Mar 1898.  I believe that at some time, after the1900 census this family moved to Michigan.  So am I correct in believing that the Greenup H. Johnson buried in Winchester Cemetery with the dates 1853 - 1909 is not the husband of Hester Bone?

1) Looking for the parents of David Simpson, born 1805 in Hamilton OH.  He married Tabitha in Shelby Co, IN (I believe 8-14-1836).
2) From my family records, I have the following line going:
Gaylord Rosenberry Wilkins ( my gggrandfather)
siblings, Albert Wilkins who married Martha Perkins,
Amanda Wilkins who married James Schumake,
          Henry Wilkins who never married,
and Alice Wilkins age 1 in 1870 moral twp census.
I would like to find Alice first.  Second, I would like to find Gaylord's
parents (1870 census shows William and Martha J. (Simpson?) Wilkins.  Next
door is Otey Wilkins.  Martha Jane's parents are David S. Simpson and
Tabitha Wilkins.  Were Gaylord and Martha cousins?  William Wilkins' parents
were John W. Wilkins and Caroline Joyce.  I believe John W. Wilkins is
Tabitha Wilkins brother.  Can anyone verify these names and relationships?
Does anyone have burial information?  Thanks.

My grandfather, Walter Bissell, ran away from a Massachusetts Boy's Home(c1917-1920)to Indiana to find his mother.  Family lore has it that he was picked up by the police and was court ordered to a Boy's Home.  Later (and this is fact, not hearsay):  Walter was removed from the Boy's Home by a (then) childless couple, Ray and Myrtle Spurgin  to help on their farm.  I spoke to Ray and Myrtle Spurgin's oldest child (age 82) this morning.  She said my grandfather was taken from a Home in Shelbyville and was living with her parents when she was born in 1921.  Please contact me if you know of this family.

I have been trying to locate "Salathiel William Green Hays" (aka Hayes, Hase Haze) in either the 1860 or 1870 census for Rush or Shelby Co.  His name, as you can imagine, gets misspelled and distorted and most records.  I found a Seelidge Hayes in the Shelby Co. 1860 census, since only the heads of household are mentioned, does anyone have an idea as to how I can prove or disprove that this guys name is actually Seelidge and not Salathiel? Salathiel's name was recorded as Soullthe on his marriage cert.  Thanks for any ideas.

Several years ago I purchased an old ledger/Scrapbook from a KY Bookstore.  It was compiled by Dora Neighbors, Shelbyville, Indiana in 1876.  It contains many clippings from the local paper, plus recipes and autographs.  They are pasted into a ledger from the 1860's which has a few visible names in what appears to be an account book.  Is anyone researching this family?

I would like any information on a traveling show that visited Shelbyville a number of times in the late 1920's and early 1930's.  This group traveled by truck and presented vaudeville type plays and entertainment under a large tent.  The group was called:  The Nash Players, or the Rosalie Nash Players. I found they played Marion, Indiana on May 21, 1932. Know that they played Shelbyville as well for many years, but not sure if they did so in 1932.  Any assistance on this greatly appreciated as well.
