Commencement  Exercises
Held  for  VanBuren  Graduates
----------
          Nineteen students were graduated from the Van Buren eighth grade at the commencement exercises at the Fairview church last night.
          The Rev. O. Franklin Kent, pastor of the Fairview church, made the principal address.  Thomas Fogarty, superintendent of county schools, presented the diplomas and the Legion medal.  The Legion medal was given to  Marvin E. Boring.
          The program included an overture by the Moral high school orchestra directed by  Austin Smith, invocation by the Rev. B. K. Johnson, numbers by a clarinet trio from the Moral high school and the benediction by the Rev. Mr. Johnson.
          The graduates are  Lloyd D. Boring,  Marvin E. Boring,  J. Melvin Cecil,  Margaret L. Cecil  Helen Marie Draper,  Virginia Margaret Estell,  Richard Hennis,  Edwin Kilgore,  John F. Morgan,  Ora Weaver,  Margaret M. McClure,  Gene Purcell,  Mary Jean Smith,  Agnes Pauline Settles,  William Owen Settles,  Walter Sosbe,  Maurice E. Thurston,  Helen Jean Whittington  and  Ola Willard.

           The schools of Van Buren township will open next Monday.  Miss Chattie McKay  will teach the Willow Grove school,  J. H. Showalter  goes to McCarty,  Miss Tillie Linville  will use the rod at Jericho and  Miss Mamie Linville will hold the fort at "Bloody Corner."
