Atwood

March 24, 1900

Dear Friend,
I received your letter yesterday morning we were glad to hear from you, you wanted to know about the Atwoods.  I will tell you all that I know about them.  My father-in-laws name was  James  Atwood  and he had four sisters and one of them married an Atwood her first cousin and I don't know what his giving name was and they all came from Virginia. I don't know whether my Father-in-law had any brothers left in there or not.  My husbands name was  Daniel  James  Atwood  and he had three brothers and three sisters and they moved to Iowa and they are all dead but his youngest sister and she married  Thomas Pile  and their post office is Bloomfield, Iowa. My husband told me as far back as he had any knowledge his folks were English people.  All the Atwoods that I know of is relation.  We would like to hear from you, and if you hear anything more we would be we would be thankful for you to let us know.  Daniel James Atwood was married to  Elizabeth  S. Sandefur August 26, 1841, his fathers name was  James  Atwood  and married   Jael  Hickson  in 1804. Grandfather Sandefurs name was   Samuel  D.  Sandefur  married   Elizabeth  Shipp , Great Grandmothers name was Elizabeth Durham before she was married. Great Grandmother Shipps name before she was married was  Mary  Coplem. [Copeland]   The Sandefurs came from Kentucky, the Atwoods from Virginia.
