Earl W. Ashton asked the court today for a writ of habeas corpus against  John Youngman,  his father-in-law.  The petition is for the recovery of Mr. Ashton’s seven-year-old daughter,  Dorothy, who is making her home with her grandfather.  The plaintiff avers that he left his daughter with the defendant in May, 1915, on the promise that he could have her any time he wanted her to come and live with him.  He states that he asked for his child in July, 1916, and his request was refused.  David Smith is representing Ashton and Isley & Isreal, the defendant.
