Constable Farrell last evening went to Moral township and arrested James Ricketts on a paternity charge preferred against him by Mrs. Jennie German-Eck, who has been keeping house for Ricketts, he being divorced.  Ricketts was placed in jail last night and this morning was taken before Squire Andrews, where he waived examination and gave bond for his appearance in court January 15, in the sum of $350.  He is represented by Tindall & Tindall.

Foreman John W. Eck  made his report of the Grand Jury Saturday afternoon.  The jury was in session twelve days and examined one hundred and fifty witnesses, returning fifteen indictments, eight for felonies and seven for misdemeanors.  A visit to the Orphans' Home showed that institution in first class order and that there are forty eight inmates.  The jail was inspected and found to be all right.  A trip to the poor farm revealed the fact that the residence building was in poor repair and the painting and otherwise repairing of the same was ordered and the Commissioners will have the matter attended to at once.  The building has not been painted since 1878.
