LAST  STAGES  OF  CONSUMPTION

Reconciliation Effected
Between Husband and Wife

The divorce proceedings brought by  Lida Belle Jacobs  against her husband,  Thomas J. Jacobs, were this afternoon dismissed by Mrs. Jacobs, and the cross-complaint filed by her husband was also withdrawn.  Mrs. Jacobs, since separating from her husband, has had ill luck, and it is said she is now in the last stages of consumption.  She was here this week and the court ordered Mr. Jenkins [?] to pay her fifteen dollars within five days.  It was thought that the woman would have to be taken to the poor farm as her friends all deserted her, even her relatives in Indianapolis telling her that they could no longer keep her.  She will spend her last days with her husband, who resides in the St. Vincent neighborhood, Mr. Jacobs coming to town this morning and returning with his wife.

Another sad case was called to the attention of the county authorities again today when a motion for dismissal was filed in the divorce case of  Lydia Jacobs  against  Thomas Jacobs.  The motion was acted upon favorably by the court and Mrs. Jacobs has gone to her home east of the city where she told friends she hoped to spend her remaining days.  She is said to be seriously ill and her days on earth to be numbered.  This fact had much to do with the dismissal of the divorce suit.  After she filed suit for divorce the husband filed a cross-complaint.  Later she filed a motion of an allowance.  Since their separation, Mrs. Jacobs has been spending the major portion of her time with relatives in Indianapolis.
