Robbers were busy in this city last night, and as a result the S. B. Morris company are losers to the extent of merchandise to the value of $50, besides a small amount of change that was taken from the different cash drawers in different parts of the store.
The discovery of the robbery was made this morning when the store was opened for the business of the day.  A window of the office had been pried open and an entrance made by the party climbing through the opening.  When some of the clerks put in their appearance, they discovered some of the goods on their shelves and counters disarranged and some of the merchandise was missing.
Upon investigation it was found that cloth and dress goods to the amount of $50 at least was taken and some money had also disappeared with the unwelcome visitor.
The exit of the robber or robbers was made through the door of the gents furnishing department of the store, this door being found unlocked when the place was opened this morning.
Chief of Police  Gilbert Manlove  was notified and he and his deputy,  William Fagel,  were soon on the job, but they have found no clew as to who committed the deed.

A new instructor in German for the local High school has been employed in the person of  Miss Nellie G. Morris,  of East Chicago, who will come to this city some time this week to begin her work.  She is to succeed  Miss Martha Railsback,  of Indianapolis, who was forced to give up the work on account of ill health.  Miss Railsback gave up her duties the middle of last month, and her place has been filled since that time by  Miss Eva DeWald,  of Indianapolis.  Miss Railsback's resignation was acted on at the regular meeting of the school board this week.  Miss Morris is a graduate from Indiana University, Bloomington, from which place she has received the A.           Mrs. S. B. Morris will go to Martinsville Friday or Saturday to join her husband whose improvement is very slow.
[If I find a definite reason for S. B.'s treatment, I will post it-pmf.  Per John German, <german@jarman.net>, many people went to Martinsville to visit the mineral spas there believing they could gain some relief from gout, arthritis, and rheumatism.]
