Legion Honors Dr. V. C. Patten
The Willard E. Hensley Post of the American Legion at Morristown has awarded a life-time membership and "Citation for Good Citizenship" to Dr. Vernon D. Patten.
Dr. Patten, approaching 80 years of age, was awarded his 50-year certificate by the Indiana State Medical Association last fall.  He has practiced medicine in Morristown the entire 50 years.  He served in the first world war, was elected the first commander of the Legion Post, and sparked the drive for money to purchase the Legion Home before the return of World War II veterans.
