Shelbyville, Ind., August 13.
          Mrs. Philo Wertz,  of Jackson township, has received notification that her son,  Howard Huron Bozell,  stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Shanghai, China has been killed.  The message gave no details of the death.  It said the body would reach San Francisco about Sept. 8.  Burial will be at Edinburg.

CANDIDATE  IS  FREED
OF  "DRUNK"  CHARGE

Shelbyville, Ind., Oct 12
          Floyd E. Wertz,  Democratic candidate for mayor of Shelbyville, was acquitted by a jury yesterday which heard his trial on a charge of intoxication.  Wertz was arrested early yesterday by two patrolmen, both Republicans.  He contended he was "framed."
          Major L. E. Webb, Republican and a candidate for re-election as mayor, presided at the trial of Wertz.  Webb attempted to disqualify himself but was compelled to serve when two attorneys selected as special judge refused to serve.

          Wertz & Amos  vs. Schoentrup-Worden Rack Company, complaint on account and for a receiver.  Receiver files petition for an order authorizing him to compromise and settle certain actions and to surrender certain policies of fire insurance.  Petition granted as prayed.

          John Eugene Voll  and  Miss Merrill Rhodes  have issued invitations for a dance which they will give on Friday night of this week at the Odd Fellows' Hall, in West Broadway.  the dance will start at nine o'clock and the subscription will be one dollar.
