MRS. ELLEN  BOWLES

          Funeral services for  Mrs. Ellen L. Bowles,  24, Shelbyville, R.R.2, who was a student at the Wright Beauty College here, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Carmony Funeral Home at Shelbyville with the  Rev. Jack Jones officiating.  Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery there.  Mrs. Bowles was killed Tuesday at 5:40 a.m. during a four-car accident on Ind. 74 north of Shelbyville.  Born Sept 23, 1943, in Grundy, Va., she was the daughter of  Burton C. and  Laura (Rife) Matney.  Mrs. Bowles had been a student at the Wright Beauty College here since Aug. 1, 1967 and had also been employed as a waitress at the American Legion Home here.  Among the survivors are two children,  Timothy  and  Stephany, both at home; the parents, with whom she lived; four brothers,  R. C. Matney, Shelbyville R.R.4, and  Roger,  James  and  Terry Matney all of Shelbyville R.R. 2; three sisters,  Mrs. Erma Parker  and  Mrs. Susan Napier, both of Shelbyville R.R. 4, and  Mrs. Opal Nash,  Shelbyville R.R.2, and the grandparents,  Jerry Matney, Grundy, Va., and  Mrs. Polly Matney, Shelbyville, R.R.2.
