BRIGGERMAN  RITES  SET

          J. Edward Briggerman, 86, 416 Second Street, died Friday at the Heritage House Convalescent Center where he had been a patient for two weeks.
          Funeral services will be conducted at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Rasche officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
          Mr. Briggerman spent the greater portion of his life in Shelbyville. He was a former auto salesman and later engaged in interior decorating.  He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
          Born in Liberty township, July 25, 1886 the son of  Henry and Magdalena (Wissing) Briggerman. He was married on October 16, 1907, to  Elece Theobold and she died June 27, 1939.
          Survivors are a son, the  Rev. Robert E. Briggerman, East Lansing, Michigan, and two daughters,  Mrs. Max (Mildred) Robinson, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Martha G. Jones, Noblesville.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  One daughter preceded in death.
          The family requests that memorials to be in the form of donations to the organ fund of the church.

LOCAL  MAN  DIES  IN  HOSPITAL

Rites For George F. Briggerman
----------
          George F. Briggerman, 87, of 1208 Elm Street, died Thursday at 3:50 p.m. at Major Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 12 days.  He had been in failing health for two years.
          Mr. Briggerman was a retired farmer who had resided on a farm in Liberty township near Blue Ridge for 75 years, until moving to Shelbyville four years ago.  He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Waldron.
          Born in Liberty township on February 7, 1878 he was the on of  Henry and  Magdalena (Wissing) Briggerman.
          Survivors include a brother,  J. Edward Briggerman of Shelbyville, three nieces and one nephew. Four sisters preceded in death.
          Services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with Rev. F. P. Puhlman officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.

Rites To Be Set For Anna Briggerman, 84
----------
          Miss Anna M. Briggerman, 84, 1206 Elm Street, died during the night in her sleep at her home and was found before noon today.  She had not been ill and death was unexpected.
          Miss Briggerman was born May 3, 1881, in Liberty township, the daughter of  Henry and  Magdalena (Wissing) Briggerman.  Surviving are two brothers,  George F. and  J. Edward Briggerman of Shelbyville, three nieces and a nephew.
          Miss Briggerman had resided in the Blue Ridge community until moving to Shelbyville a few years ago.  She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and a charter member of the Zion Women’s Guild.
          Services will be held Monday at the Carmony Funeral Home, with the Rev. F. P. Puhlmann of the Zion United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

          Mrs. Magdelena Briggerman,  86, died at her home in Liberty township, Shelby county, Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, following an illness of three weeks.  She was the widow of  Henry Briggerman.
          Mrs. Briggerman was born in Germany, May 30, 1848, the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. George Wissing.  She was a member of the Zion Evangelical church.
          The deceased is survived by five children,  George and  Miss Anna Briggerman, both at home;  Edward Briggerman  and  Mrs. Scott Byrum, of Shelbyville, and  Mrs. John Keppel, of Union township. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
          Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 o’clock at the home, with the Rev. J. W. Dickmann, pastor of Zion Evangelical church officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, in charge of Ezra Carmony, funeral director.

Civil War Veteran, Succumbs At Home

          Complication which developed from an injury suffered several weeks ago last night resulted in the death of  Henry Briggerman, Civil War veteran, at his home in Liberty township, south of Blue Ridge. He was 83 years old.
          Mr. Briggerman was born November 26, 1845, on the Atlantic ocean, as his parents,  Frederick and  Margaret Briggerman were on their way to New Orleans from Germany. They later moved to Cincinnati from New Orleans, and there they lived for many years.
          Mr. Briggerman enlisted in Company K, 193rd Ohio regiment of the Union army, at the start of the civil war. After receiving his honorable discharge he came to Shelbyville.
          In 1869 he was married to  Magdalena Wissing.  They spent the greater part of their lives on the farm where his death occurred, in Liberty township. Of the eight children born to them, six survive, the other having died in infancy. The children now living are  Mrs. John Keppel,  Mrs. J. D. Keppel,  Miss Anna Briggerman,  Miss Louise Briggerman,  and  Mrs. George Briggerman, all of Liberty township, and  J. Edward Briggerman, of Shelbyville. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
          Funeral services will be held Monday morning at the home, the Rev. J. W. Dickman, of this city, officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill cemetery. Carmony Brothers are the funeral directors in charge.
          Mr. Briggerman was a devoted member of the Zion Evangelical church if Union township.
