“Mrs. Hazel Butz, 73, Dies at Waveland

Mrs. Hazel Fern Butz, 73, a Shelby county native and former operator of a Terre Haute beauty shop, died yesterday at the home of her niece, Mrs. Jess Aague of Waveland, Ind. Mrs. Butz operated a beauty salon for 28 years and gave instructions to salon operators. She was a member of the Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star in Terre Haute. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewis Creek Baptist Church and interment will be at the Lewis Creek Baptist cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services begin. Local funeral arrangements were in charge of the Murphy Mortuary."October 6, 1958

Note: Hazel (Sexton) Butz (1885-1958) was the daughter of James and Mary (Mitchell) Sexton of Shelbyville. Her husband was Fred Butz, whom she married 1903 in Shelbyville.
