          Gladys M. Cathers, 82, of California Street, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at Bartholomew County Hospital.  She had been a bookkeeper at First National Bank for several years, retiring May 29, 1971.  She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.  Funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Rex Humphrey and Jerry Day at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope, where calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.  Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
          Born July 2, 1909, in Shelby County, Mrs. Cathers was the daughter of  Bert and  Lona Pope Campbell.  She married  Dale E. Cathers  Dec. 22, 1943.  He died May 5, 1982.
          Surviving are sisters,  Hazel Hendrickson  and  Mary Gruhl, both of Hope, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death   by a sister,  Virginia Hayes,  on Wednesday, and brothers,  Paul,  Fred and  Charles Campbell.

          Dale E. Cathers,  76, of 2003 California, died unexpectedly at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday at Major Hospital at Shelbyville.  Before his retirement he worked many years as a self-employed trucker and stock trader.
          Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Dallas Collier at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope, where persons may call from 4 until 9 p.m. Friday and until time of service Saturday.  Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
          Cathers was born in Bartholomew County Sept. 20, 1905, the son of  William T. and  Lillie Emmert Cathers.  He married  Gladys Campbell  Dec. 22, 1943, and she survives.
          A veteran of World War II, Cathers was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Adult Bible class there.
          Memorials may be made through Norman Funeral Home to Memorial Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
