Family, friends mourn R. William Kiskadden, Jr

Downey - funeral services for  Robert William Kiskadden, Jr.,  a long time local resident and retired teacher, were held Thursday, Aug 4 at the Downey United Methodist Church.
          A native of Pittsburg, PA, he lived in Downey and died Aug 1 in Norwalk at the age of 76.  He was a retired major in the U.S. Army, a former teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District and a former teacher at South Gate High School.  He was a member of the Downey United Methodist Church, Downey Masonic Lodge No. 220, the Downey Historical Society, the National Geographic Educators Association, the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles, the Retired Officers Association, and the National Education Institute.
          Survivors include his wife  Jean N. Kiskadden;  a son,  Thomas Hardy Kiskadden;  daughterin law  Caroline  and grandchildren  Matthew,  Scott and  Kelly.
          Pastors James Roan and Earl McCallum officiated.  Burial was at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.  Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.

George  H.  Cuskaden

          George H. Cuskaden,  61, St. Paul, died today at 1:30 a.m. at home.  He had been in failing health for three months.  He was born in Decatur County on Nov. 20, 1922, a son of  Bernard and  Lucy (Haymond) Cuskaden.  On Dec. 31, 1942, he married  Elsie Robbins,  who survives.
          Mr. Cuskaden was employed for 22 years at the Standard Oil Company in Greensburg.  Prior to that, he was employed by  Charles H. Johnston  and Son Wholesale Grocer for 18 years.  He was a member of the St. Paul Christian Church.
          Other survivors include three sons,  Tech. Sgt. George R. Cuskaden,  Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Ariz.,  Michael W. Cuskaden,  R.R. 1, Greensburg, and  Richard Cuskaden,  Greensburg; a daughter,  Mrs. Patricia Ann Ashley,  Indianapolis; and 10 grandchildren.
          Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill HOrner officiating.  Burial will be in the Van Pelt Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
