A  FORMER  CITIZEN  OF  SHELBYVILLE  KILLS  HIMSELF
---------
News was received here Friday, that  J. W. Griswold  had hung himself in his wood shed, Thursday night, at Arcola, Illinois.  His family were absent at the time.  He left a note requesting his nearest neighbor to cut his body down.  Nothing is known as to the cause of the rash act, or if known to the family, it is kept a secret.  Financial difficulties are assigned by some as the explanation.
Deceased formerly resided in this place, and was a member of the city goods firm  J. W. Griswold & George M. Goulding, a number of years ago.  In Arcola, the place of his late residence, he was a prominent dry goods merchant, and highly esteemed.  His former acquaintances in this place, hear with regret of his untimely end.
