Ray Herndon, age 69, passed away Wednesday.  Husband of  Mrs. Anna T. Herndon, New Palestine; father of  Paul R. Herndon, Beech Grove,  Eugene G. Herndon, Seymour,  Maurice Herndon, Needham R.R.1,  Mrs. James (Norma) Knose, Speedway and  Mrs. Robert (Carol) Lodge, Indpls.; stepfather of  Donald Caudell, Manilla and  Bernard Caudell, Greenfield; brother of  Charles HerndonMrs. Opal Adams  and  Mrs. Alice Corley  all of Shelbyville; grandfather of 11; great grandfather of 1.  Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday,  CARMONY  FUNERAL  HOME, Shelbyville.  Burial Fairland Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home.

          Ray Herndon,  69, R.R.2, New Palestine, died Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at Major Hospital, where he had been a patient three weeks.  He had been in failing health six months.
          Mr. Herndon had spent the greater part of his life in Shelby County and was a retired farmer.  He also was a retired employe of the Shelby County Highway Department and a member of the Hillside United Methodist Church.
          Born April 18, 1903 in Decatur County, Mr. Herndon was the son of  Charles and  Laura (Bullard) Herndon.  On Aug. 12, 1922, he married  Frances Louise Theobald, who died July 8, 1968.  He married Anna T. Caudell on Oct. 4, 1969 and she survives.
          Also surviving are five children,  Paul Ray Herndon, Beech Grove,  Eugene Gerald Herndon, Seymour,  Mrs. James (Norma) Knose, Speedway,  Maurice Herndon, R.R.1, Needham and  Mrs. Robert (Carol) Lodge,  Indianapolis; and two stepsons,  Donald Caudell of Manilla and  Bernard Caudell, Greenfield.
          Other survivors are 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother and two sisters,  Charles Herndon,  Mrs. Opal Adams  and  Mrs. Alice Corley, all of Shelbyville.  A son and one sister preceded in death.
          Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Carmony Funeral Home, with the Revs. David Lawson and  Robert Morley officiating.  Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Friday.

          Mrs. Ray (Francis Louise) Herndon,  64, of R.R.2 Shelbyville, Brandywine Township, died today at 12:50 a.m. at Major Hospital, where she had been a patient 16 days.  She had been in failing health several years.
          Mrs. Herndon was a lifelong resident of Shelby County and a member of the Brandywine United Methodist Church.
            Born in Shelbyville June 26, 1904, she was a daughter of  William E. and  Katie (Shook) Theobald.  On Aug. 12, 1922, she was married to  Ray Herndon,  who survives at home.
            Also surviving are the mother, R.R.6;  five children,  Paul R. Herndon, Beech Grove,  Eugene G. Herndon, Seymour,  Maurice E. Herndon, R.R.1 Needham,  Mrs. James (Norma) Knose, Speedway, and  Mrs. Carol J. Shirey, R.R.2, Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; and a brother and sister,  Edwin Theobald, Indianapolis, and  Mrs. Gladys Lemasters, R.R.6, Shelbyville.
          Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Carmony Funeral Home here, with burial in the Fairland Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

          Funeral services for  John A. Herndon,  89, who died at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of his son,  Earl Herndon,  in Noble Township, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Wesleyan Chapel.  Short services will be held at the home at 2:00 o'clock.
          The Rev. C. C. Fields, pastor of the church, and the Rev. F. M. Addison will officate and burial will be in the Copeland cemetery in Shelby county in charge of C. F. Fix & Son, funeral directors.
          Mr. Herndon was born Aug. 3, 1847 and was the son of   William and  Elizabeth Herndon.  His marriage to Ida C. Jones, who died October 20, 1906, took place in May, 1873.  Six of the eight children born to this union survive.  They are Otis I. and  Mrs. L. W. Rosencrans, of Decatur county;  Oscar, of Bartholomew county;  Earl and  Mrs. Edgar Hoban, of Noble township, and  Roy E. Herndon, of Morgan county.
          On Sept. 12, 1912, he married  Jane McClintic,  who preceded him in death April 16, 1936. He also leaves twenty-two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and one step-son,  Heschell Jackson  of Shelbyville.
          Mr. Herndon was a charter member of the Wesleyan Methodist church.

          Mrs. Jane Herndon,  83 years old, died at her home in Lewis Creek at 7 o'clock Thursday night.  She was the wife of  John A. Herndon.  About five months ago she fell at her home and dislocated her left shoulder.  She had been in failing health for the past eighteen months.
          She was born in Bartholomew county the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. William McClintic  Nov. 11, 1852.  Her entire life was spent in Shelby county and she had lived at Lewis Creek for the past twenty-four years.  The deceased was a charter member of the Wesleyan Methodist church at Lewis Creek.  In 1872 she was united in marriage to  Elijah Jackson,  who preceded her in death in 1899.  To this union four children were born.  One son,  Herschell Jackson  of this city, survives.  Those who preceded were  Melvin Jackson,  Bertha Petterson, and  Maude Conover.  In Sept. 1912, she was married to  John Herndon, who survives.  No children were born to this union.
          Mrs. Herndon is also survived by ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and six step-children.  Otis Herndon  of near Greensburg,  Oscar  of near Hope,  Mrs. L. W. Rosencrans  of near Letts,  Earl and  Mrs. Edgar Hoban  of near St. Paul and  Roy  of near Clayton, Ind.
          Funeral services will be held at the Wesleyan Methodist church in Lewis Creek at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. C. C. Fields, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be on the family lot in the Patterson cemetery in charge of C. F. Fix and Son, funeral directors.
