County Man Dies
After 10-Year Illness

          Joe Horner,  73, died at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the home of a niece,  Mrs. Paul Garrett  of Washington Township, 10 miles south of Shelbyville.  Mr. Horner, who resided at the Garrett home for the past seven years, had been ill for 10 years and in serious condition only one day.
          A son of  John and  Jane (Emery) Horner,  he was born in Jasper County, Ill., Oct. 7, 1887.  On Dec. 24, 1914, he married  Hattie Norvel,  who died May 18, 1955.  A sister  Mrs. Alice Burk  of Louisville, Ill., is the only survivor of his family of 10.  There are several nieces and nephews.
          Mr. Horner, a farmer all his life, moved to London from the Waldron area about 34 years ago.  A member of the Christian Church in Illinois, he was an active member for 50 years of Farmers Lodge No. 147, F and AM of Norristown.
          The lodge will participate in the funeral services Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Carmony Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Rev. Marvin Isley, a former Norristown pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in the VanPelt cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday.
