Mrs. Margaret Posz Died This Morning At Home
One Mile North Of Blue Ridge

FUNERAL  SERVICES  MONDAY

          Mrs. Margaret Posz, age eighty-five years, died Friday morning at nine-fifteen o'clock, at her home one mile north of Blue Ridge. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases, with which she had suffered for more than a year.  For a year Mrs. Posz had been confined to her bed, but through all of her illness she had maintained a happy spirit, and delighted in conversing with her many friends who called at the house.
          Mrs. Posz was the daughter of  George and Katherine Becker. She was born March 13, 1837 in Moerheim, Germany.  When six years old she came to this country with her parents.  The family landed at New Orleans after being on the water for sixty-three days.  They came to this county, where the father died two years after their arrival.
          Mr. and Mrs. Posz were married in [March 9,] 1854.  Mr. Posz died several years ago.  Mrs. Posz was a member of the Zion Evangelical church, in Union township.  She is survived by four daughters:  Mrs. Katherine Gaeheimer, east of Blue Ridge;  Mrs. Barbara Kuhn, of north of Blue Ridge;  Mrs. Emma Cotton at home and three sons,  John Adam Posz, of near Middletown, Shelby County;  Conrad Posz, of near Homer, in Rush County; and  George Posz, who lived with his mother.  Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren also survive.
          Funeral services will be conducted in German, Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, at the home.  At three o'clock services will be held at the Zion Evangelical Church, the Rev. S. Caldemeyer officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery, R. T. Stewart in charge.

Bronchial Pneumonia Causes Death Of Valentine Posz,
Blue Ridge Last Night

          Valentine Posz, 89 years old, a native of Bavaria, Germany, died at 10 o'clock last night at his late home, one and one-half miles north of Blue Ridge, of bronchial pneumonia, of which he became ill last Friday.  His condition was not considered serious until Monday.
          Mr. Posz was born in Germany, January 15, 1830, and came to this country at the age of 24 years, settling in Shelby county.  He was married in [March 9,] 1854 to Miss Margaret Becker, of Blue Ridge, and the same year received his naturalization papers.  Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Posz moved to the farm north of Blue Ridge which was owned by the wife, and there they spent the remainder of their married life.  Mrs. Posz has spent her entire life in the Blue Ridge community.  She is 87 years old.
          They were the parents of eight children, seven of whom survive with the widow.  One daughter died three years ago.  The seven who survive are:  Mrs. Catherine Gahimer, of Rush County;  Adam Posz of near Waldron;  Miss Emma, at home;  Mrs. Margaret Gahimer, of near Blue Ridge;  Conrad Posz, of Homer;  George, at home and  Mrs. Barbara Kuhn, also of near Blue Ridge.  Mr. Posz also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary Flaitz and  Mrs. Catherine Deitzer, both of this city.  Nineteen grand children and twenty four great grandchildren also survive.
          Mr. Posz had enjoyed excellent health until Friday when he was stricken with pneumonia.  Throughout Friday and Saturday he was in excellent spirits and it was not until early Monday morning that his condition became worrysome.  Physicians stated yesterday that recovery was impossible.  Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical Church in Union township at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, the Rev. Samuel Caldemeyer, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be made in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, in charge of Stewart and Fix of this city.
