Alois Raith, aged county resident, died at his home three and one-half miles east of the city at 8:00 o'clock Wednesday night. Death was caused from a complication of diseases due to his advanced age. Mr. Raith was 88 years old.January 2, 1930

He was born in Germany and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alois Raith. He came to this country in 1859 and had lived on the farm where he died for the past 34 years. His marriage to Miss Marie Kiser took place on November 24, 1896.
Besides the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Thurman Koontz, of this city, and five grandchildren survive.
Mr. Raith was a member of the First Evangelical church. Funeral services will be held at the church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. W. J. Schaefer [or Schaster] officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery with Charles M. Ewing in charge.
