MARY  JANE  SALLA
Former Resident of Mt. Auburn Died In Dewitt, Nebraska

          From the Dewitt Times-News, a newspaper published at Dewitt, Nebraska, the following item is taken, the paper having been sent  The Republican by Mrs. C. C. Snyder:  Mrs. Mary Jane Salla died at her home in Dewitt, August 3, 1921 at the age of 77 years.  The funeral was held at the M. E. church August 5, conducted by Rev. Jeamby.  She had been prepared for the end for a long time and the funeral was carried out completely according to plans made by herself.  "Mary Jane Elder was born at Mt. Auburn, Indiana, June 24, 1844, and at that place was married March 23, 1865 to  Alfred F. Salla.  They moved to Dewitt in December, 1883 where she has resided since, the husband having passed away October 7, 1889.  She is survived by two children, five grandchildren and one sister.  One daughter, Mrs. Anna Courtney died in 1902.  She joined the M. E. church October 10, 1850, at the age of 6 years, and maintained her membership through life."

          DIED SALLA --- On Wednesday, the 12th day of November, 1879, at the late residence of  the deceased, in Hendricks township, Judge Lewis Salla, in the 82nd year of his age.
