          Gerald Scales  was born to  John H. & Bessie Miller Scales.  He married  Norma Jean Jeffers  and she passed away May 24, 2002.  They had seven children.  Roger Scales,  Dennis Scales,  Jonathon Scales,  Terry Scales,  Barney Scales,  Kenneth Scales and  Gloria Scales Jones.  He had four sisters,  Betty Enochs,  Vada Barnett,  Rosemary Keller and  Georgia Hutchison.  He had sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
          He was retired from Stran Steel and Quaker Maid and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hymera [Sullivan County, Indiana].  He loved working on cars.  He will missed by all that knew him.

          Norma Jean Jeffers Scales  was born to  Wayne & Alma Noel Jeffers.  She married  Gerald Scales  May 20th, 1951.  They had seven children:  Roger,  Dennis,  Johnathan,  Terry,  Barney &  Kenneth Scales, and  Gloria Scales Jones.  She had 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.  Two sisters:  Barbara Jeffers Walters,  Carolyn Jeffers Williams.  One brother  Melvin Jeffers.
          She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hymera [Sullivan County, Indiana].  She was a good woman, kind, always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed.

          HYMERA -- Mrs. Bessie Scales,  66, rte one Shelburn, died Monday at Terre Haute Regional Hospial.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Hymera Order of Eastern Star.
          She is survived by the husband,  Homer;  four daughters,  Mrs. Zada Barnett  and  Mrs. Georgia Hutchinson,  both of rte one Shelburn,  Rosemary Keller,  Hymera and  Mrs. Betty Enochs,  LaPort [sic--LaPorte]; a son  Gerald,  Farmersburg; a brother  Norman Miller,  Linton; three sisters,  Mrs. Beatrice Kirkman and  Mrs. Alma Myers,  both of Linton and  Mrs. Georgia Wise,  Englewood, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
          Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the McHugh Hymera Chapel with Rev. Allen Roberts and Rev. Lincoln Stafford officiating and burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.  Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
