Former Shelby County resident  Zelma M. Schonfeld, 79, died Wednesday at her home in Hope.
Born on Feb. 17, 1918, in Bartholomew County, d/o  Martin  and  Hazel (Horner) Shirley.
On Sept. 26, 1936, married  John W. Schonfeld, he survives.
Matron at the Shelby Manor from 1971 to 1984. Worked at G.C. Murphy Co, Shelbyville.
Member of the First Baptist Church, Hope, treasurer of the Golden Circle Sunday school class.  Member of the Hope American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Hope meal site for 14 years.
Other survivors include two daughters, Florence L. Cave, Trafalgar, and  Lovena Dayton, Hope; a son, Neil Schonfeld, Shelbyville; two sisters,  Mary Artis  and  Marcille Roarks, both of Hope; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two brothers.
Norman Funeral Home, Hope.  First Baptist Church, Hope.  Rev. Mike Hankins officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, the Hope meal site or Hope Squad 15.
