Mrs. Avis Tungate, 73, died in Shelbyville, Indiana, at 7 p.m. Dec. 8. She was a native of Illinois, born April 9, 1906, daughter of George Adams and Minnie Noel Adams. February 15, 1923, she was married to Clem Tungate at Knifley, Ky. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1977. To this union 10 children were born, with one preceding them in death. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janie Roundtree, Louisville; one brother, Ruby Adams, Elkhorn; two half-sisters: Junious Clark, Louisville, and Mrs. Charlie (Bobbie) Moore of Elizabethtown. Mrs. Tungate had worked for the Monte Glove Company in Indiana for the past 37 years, after she moved there from Campbellsville. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Ewing Mortuary in Shelbyville, Ind., with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
