W. C.  WARNER,  WHO  DIED  RECENTLY,
WAS  SURVIVOR  OF  SINKING  CIVIL  WAR  SHIP
------------
Peerle W. Warner,  a citizen of Fountaintown, called at  The Republican  office and related several facts concerning  W. C. Warner,  Civil War veteran, who passed away, May 18, at his home in Wellington, Kansas, where he had resided for several years.  Mr. Warner was 85 years of age at the time of his death.  The information given by Mr. Warner will prove interesting to both Morristown and Fountaintown residents as W. C. Warner resided in and near Fountaintown for nearly twenty years, coming there in 1878.
He was a Civil War veteran and one of the last survivors from the great army of 1861, having been rescued from the sinking Sultana when more that seventeen hundred lives were lost.  Mr. Warner was formerly a railroader.
The Republican will appreciate any information concerning old friends and acquaintances of the community.
