Harry E. Carmony and Fannie E. Brown were born
in Union township, Shelby county, Indiana o September 12, 1882, and October 18,
1883, respectively. Their schooling was limited to neighboring one-room
district schools, and their early religious and social lives centered in the
neighborhood Christian Church (the Old Grange Hall). It was here that they
were married September 13, 1903 at 3 o'clock p.m. by the Reverend G. W.
Shane, the local pastor. Twenty-five years later they returned
to the Old Grange Hall to celebrate the Silver Wedding anniversary. Mr. Carmony first taught school, then engaged in farming for several years. He served as trustee of Hanover township for two terms during the thirties. Aside from brief periods in Gwynneville, Milton (Wayne county), and on their farm in Union township, the Carmonys have lived in Morristown since 1919. They are members of the Morristown Church of the Nazarene. |
