The State of Indiana to the Sheriff of Shelby County, Greeting:
You are hereby commanded to cite Thomas Cotton Administrator of the estate of
Wm. R. Ensminger deceased, to appear before the Judge of the Probate Court of
Shelby County, on the first day of the next term, to be holden at the Court
House in Shelbyville, in and for said County of Shelby, on the second Monday of
August next; then and there to file and account current of his said
administration, and the vouchers for money by him expended in the settlement of
said estate preparatory to a final settlement of said administration with this
court. And, further, to stand and perform whatever our said Court shall adjudge
in the premises. And have you then and there this writ.
Witness, Jacob Vernon Clerk of said Probate Court, and the seal thereof, the
5th day of June A.D. 1844.

the State of Indiana Thomas Cotton Administrator of the Estate of William R.
Ensminger Deceased Respectfully report that he is not ready to settle said
Estate at this time on account if not Collecting the sale notes he therefore
prays further time &c. August 12th 1844. Thomas Cotton Adminstr.

Received of Thomas Cotton Administrator of the Estate of William R. Ensminger
late of Shelby county Deceased the sum of Forty two Dollars and Eighty one and
one half cents as part of the Distribution share of Roena Dewitt, late widow of
William R. Ensminger Deceased, which we jointly and severally Bind ourselves our
heirs Executors and Administrators to refund or Repay on demand should the said
Thomas Cotton Administrator want the same or a part either to effect a
settlement with the Court or for the purpose of paying the Debts of the estate
or for the purpose of equaling of the Distribution among the heirs of said
William R. Ensminger Dec’d in witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand
and seals this 7th day of June 1842.
