vs
Fred  P. Taylor

Shelby Circuit Court
Divorce Filed April 24, 1907

State of Indiana   In Shelby Circuit Court
County of Shelby SSMay Term 1907

The plaintiff  Lottie M. Taylor  complains of the defendant  Fred P. Taylor  and says, that she is and for more than Fifteen years last past continuously she has been a bona fide resident of the state of Indiana, and during all of said time continuously she has been and now is a bona fide resident of the city of Shelbyville in Shelby County in said state of Indiana
The plaintiff further says, that she and the defendant were legally married in said county on the 24th of December 1902, and lived together as husband and wife from said date until the 23d day of April 1905, when they separated as herein after stated, and since said date the plaintiff has lived wholly separate and apart from the defendant.
That on said 23d day of April 1905 said defendant without any fault on the part of plaintiff and without any cause for so doing, willfully and purposely deserted and abandoned the plaintiff. That since said day when he so abandoned her the defendant has never since returned to her nor shown the least intention of ever returning and living with her again.
Plaintiff further says, that for more than two years last past, the defendant has wholly failed, neglected and refused to make any provision whatever for the support of the plaintiff and their said child herein after mentioned or either of them. That when the defendant deserted her and his said child as aforesaid he left her without any means of support and destitute of any money or means with which to provide any provisions or clothing for herself and child. The plaintiff further says that one child was born as the result of said marriage namely Ruth Lillian Taylor who is now Three years of age and that the plaintiff has had the care and custody of and has been supporting said child ever since the defendant so abandoned them as aforesaid. That the defendant is not a fit and proper person to have the care and custody of said infant daughter but that the plaintiff is able to provide a good home for said child with her parents in said city of Shelbyville, with whom she now resides; that she is able to care for and support said child by her earnings, and that she desires to have the care and custody of said child awarded to her.
The plaintiff further says that as she is informed and believes the defendant is now a non resident of the state of Indiana, and that his exact whereabouts is unknown to her, but that the last information she has of his whereabouts through acquaintenances of the defendant was that he had gone to the state of Oklahoma, and that to the best of her knowledge he is now some where in the far west.
Wherefore the plaintiff says, that by reason of the facts above alleged, she entitled to a divorce from the defendant, and she prays for the judgment and decree of this court for an absolute divorce from said defendant, and that she also be awarded by such decree the care and custody of said child Ruth Lillian Taylor and she prays for all other proper relief in the premises.
