          Be it Known, that on the 24th day of January A.D., 1853, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court, before the Clerk thereof,  John Harrington  an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that he is a native of Ireland aged about 23 years, and owes allegiance to the Queen of Great Britain & Ireland that he emigrated thence, embarked at Cork in Ireland and arrived at New York in the United States, on the first day of November A.D., 1850 and that it is bona fide his intention to reside in and become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever All Allegiance and Fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to Victoria Queen of Great Britain and Ireland.

          Sworn and subscribed the 24th day of January 1853.

          In Testimony Whereof, I Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, hereunto set my name and seal of said Court the above date.
