Be It Known, that on the 22d day of August A.D., 1854, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court, before the Clerk thereof, William Messer an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that he is a native of Germany aged about forty four years, and owes allegiance to the William Koufarst that he emigrated thence, embarked at Bramin and arrived at Baltimore in the United States, on the 26th day of August A.D., 1844 and that it is bona fide his intention to reside in and become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever All Allegiance and Fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to William Koufarst Grand Duke of Hesse Cassel in Germany.
Sworn and subscribed the 22d day of August 1854.
