Metzler

            Be it Known, that on the 12th day of October A.D., 1852, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court, before the Clerk thereof, Sales Metzler an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that he is a native of Baden in Germany, aged about 26 years, and owes allegiance to the Grand Duke of Baden that he emigrated thence, embarked at Havre de Grace and arrived at New Orleans in the United States on the 15th day of May A.D., 1848 and that it is bona fide his intention to reside in and become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever ALL ALLEGIANCE AND FIDELITY to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State of Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to Leopold Grand Duke of Baden in Germany.

            Sworn and subscribed the 12th day of October 1852.

            In Testimony Whereof, I Jacob Vernon, Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, hereunto set my name and Seal of Said Court the above date.
