This Indenture made this eighth day of January in the year of our lord one
thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Thomas F. Randolph and
Katharine Randolph his wife of the county of Shelby and state of Indiana
of the one part and William Smith of the county and state aforesaid of
the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas F. Randolph for and in
consideration of the sum of Six hundred and fourty dollars to them in
hand paid by the said William Smith the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and doth by these
presents grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Thomas F. Randolph
his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land in the county of
Shelby aforesaid. It being the West half of
the South East Quarter of section four township eleven of Range six in
the county of Shelby and state of Indiana in the district of Brookville
estimated to contain eighty acres be the same more or less, together with
all the appurtanances Thereunto belonging and the reversions remainders
and profits thereof and all the estate title and interest of the said Thomas F.
Randolph in and to the same. To have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all
the appurtanances to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said William
Smith his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Thomas F. Randolph for
himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant and agree to and
with the said William Smith his heirs and assigns that he the said Thomas F.
Randolph is Lawfully seized in fee of the premises aforesaid, that they are free
from all incumbrance and that he has good right to sell and convey the same in
manner and form aforesaid. And further that he and his heirs executors and
administrators shall and will warrant and defend the said premises to the said
William Smith his heirs and assigns against the Lawful claims of himself and his
heirs and also against the Lawful claim or claims of all and every other person
or persons whatsoever. And the said Katharine Randolph the wife of the said
Thomas F. Randolph doth hereby relinquish all her right and title of Dower of in
and to the premises aforesaid. In witness whereof the said Thomas F. Randolph
and Katharine Randolph his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day
and year above written

State of Indiana Shelby County to wit
Be it remembered that the within named Thomas F. Randolph and Katharine Randolph
his wife came this day personally before me John Cutsinger a
Justice of the peace in and for Shelby County and acknowledged that they signed
sealed and delivered the within Indenture as their act and deed for the purposes
therein specified. And the said Katharine Randolph being of full age and being
by me duly examined seperate and apart from her said husband. And the contents
of the said Indenture being made known to her declared that she relinquished all
her right and title of dower in and to the Lands and tenements in the within
indenture set forth and described and that she voluntarily and of her own free
will and accord and without coercion or compulsion of her husband signed sealed
and delivered the said Indenture as her act and deed for the purposes
aforesaid. Given under my hand and seal in the county of Shelby aforesaid
