In the matter of the petition of Geo W. & Mary Williams to adopt
Ethel May Murphy, a minor
Comes now into open court, the Gordon Shelby County Children’s Home, by D. L. Wilson, President of the Board of Trustees of said Home, attested by the Secretary thereof, and for and on behalf of said Home, files the written consent of said Home, and consents to the adoption of said Minor child by said Williams & wife. They further show that on the __ day of __ 19__ said ward, was with others, by the judgment of this court, made wards of the Gordon Shelby County Children’s Home. That said Home by its officers believe it is for the best interest of said child that she shall be adopted by said Williams & wife.

In the Shelby Circuit Court-for the adoption of a child
In the matter for the adoption of Effie Murphy a ward of the Board of County Commissioners, placed in the home of
George W. & Carrie M. Williams, of Shelby County, Indiana, and asking to adopt said child as their own.
Comes now George W. Williams and Carrie M. Williams, husband and wife, and represent and show to the court, that they and each of them are desirous of adopting
Ethel Murphy, now living in their home, and their residence is about 4 ½ miles east of Shelbyville, Indiana. That the name of the child they desire adopt is
Effie Murphy, age 13 years Feby 13” 1919; that she is a girl child and white and said child has no property.
That said child was adjudged a dependant & neglected child on the 23” day of January 1915; that said child was received into the custody of petitioners on the 15” day of May 1915, and has lived with them since said date and is now living with them; that they got said child from the Gordon Shelby county Children’s Home on the date above mentioned. That they are capable of keeping and caring for her and she is desirous of living with them and being made a child of theirs by adoption. That if adopted by order of this court that said child’s name as adopted be Ethel May Williams.
Said petitioners being duly sworn upon their oath each says the facts are true and correct.

Comes now the Board of Commissioners of Shelby County, Indiana, and filed its consent to the adoption of Effie Murphy, by George W. and Carrie M. Williams, which consent reads in the words and figures following, to-wit: (here insert) And comes also the Board of Trustees of the Gordon Shelby County Children’s Home, and files its consent to the adoption of said Effie Murphy by said George W. and Carrie M. Williams, which consent reads in the words and figures following, to-wit: (here insert)
And this cause being at issue and set for trial on this date the same is now submitted to the court for its ruling thereon, and the court being fully advised in the premises now finds that said Effie Murphy should be adopted by George W. and Carrie M. Williams; that it should be the natural heir of the said George W. and Carrie M. Williams; and that said child was 12 years of age on the 15th day of February 1918.
It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the court that Effie Murphy be and she is hereby adopted by George W. and Carrie M. Williams; that said child take the name of Ethel Williams; that said child be the natural heir of the said George W. and Carrie M. Williams; and that said child was 12 years of age on the 15th day of February, 1918.

In the matter of the petition of Geo. W. & Mary Williams, to adopt Ethel May Murphy
Comes now into open court the undersigned commissioners of the County of Shelby, in the state of Indiana, and show to the court, they are familiar with the contents of the petition, in the above entitled matter; and are acquainted with the parties, seeking to adopt said minor child, and they are satisfied, it will be for the best interest of the said minor child, that it be adopted by said parties as their own child; and they hereby file and give their full consent to the court making an order for the adoption of said minor child. Done in open session this, 3d day of February A.D. 1919.
