Letters  of  Administration

Shelby County
                    The undersigned petitioner represents and shows to the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Shelby County in vacation of said Court that James Davis late of said county departed this life on the ninth day of June 1860 intestate that said decedent left a widow who has renounced her right to letters of administration upon the estate of said decedent and request that your petitioner may be appointed administrator of said estate. That said decedent left a personal estate to be administered of the probable value of about five hundred dollars. Your petitioner therefore in consideration of the premises prays that letters of administration upon said estate be applied to him.

The following are the accounts of Varner Davis Administrator of said Estate on settlement to wit.
Amount of former report filed July 14, 1862     $813.07
Interest collected $ 32.15
Amount of charges $845.22

          He asks for a credit for the following [illegible] paid out on account of said estate. Account of 29 vouchers filed in former report $179.05.
          And said administrator shows that all claims known against said estate are paid and he asks to be discharged from said trust.
