            I, Jacob Vernon ~ Clerk of the Probate Court in and for the County of Shelby ~ in the State of Indiana, do hereby certify that administration of the goods, chattels, rights, credits, moneys, and effects which were of Robert Means Jr. late of Shelby County, deceased, who died intestate, is granted to James R. Means and the said James R. Means having qualified and given bond as such administrator, is duly authorized to take upon himself the administration of such estate according to law.

Witness my hand and seal of said Court, this fourth day of September ~ in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five

            Shelby County to wit Personally appeared before me James B. Holmes a Justice of the peace in and for said county James R. Means Administrator of the estate of Robert Means Jr. deceased and John Means and Robert Means Sen. appraisers of said estate and being duly sworn the said John Means and Robert Means Sen. Say that the above inventory and appraisment as signed by them is just and true inventory and valuation of the goods chattles and effects of the said Robert Means Jr. to the best of their Judgment And the said James R. Means says that the above is a true inventory of the personal Estate of the said Robert Means Jr. so far as the same has come to his hands to be administered.

                Before me Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Probate Court of said county personally came James R. Means Administrator of the Estate of Robert Means Jr late of said county decd, and being by me duly sworn says the foregoing Inventory is in all respect just and true and contains a full statement of all the property bonds mortgages notes and accounts debts and other securities in favor of said Estate which have come to his knowledge, and of all the monies Bank bills or other circulating medium belonging to the Estate of the said deceased which have come to his hands

Administrators Sale
            The undersigned Administrator of the Estate of Robert Means Jr late of the County of Shelby and state of Indiana deceased will expose to sale at public auction on friday the 26th day of September 1845 at the late residence of the said decedent 1 ½ miles South East of Pleasant View, in Shelby County, all the personal property of said decedent consisting of Horses Cattle Hogs Sheep Corn Wheat Hay, One Wheat fan, farming utensils some house hold and kitchen furniture a small Lot of Tobacco & various other articles too numerous to mention ~ a credit of twelve months will be given on all sums of three Dollars and upwards by purchasers giving note with approved Security collectable without relief from valuation or appraisement laws. All sums under three Dollars cash in hand
