Will of Joshua H. Arnold Aprile 25th 1873
I Joshua H. Arnold
of Decatur county and State of Indiana make and publish
this my last will and Testament revoking all other wills made by me if any
1st I want all my just debts paid after my deth I want my funeral expenses
paid by my executor or administrator
2nd I give to my beloved wife Mary Arnold the farm I now occupy and described
as follows towit The West half of the south West quarter of section Thirty four
(34) in Township twelve (12) North of Range eight (8) East [directly
west of Liberty Township,
Shelby County] to hold the same her
natural life time and to dispose of the same as she sees fit while she lives,
and if my son Alonzo Arnold shall stay with his mother and take care of her
untill her deth then the said Alonzo A. Arnold is to have the above described
tract of land in fee simple.
3rd I give to my wife Mary all the household property that we now have and to
dispose of the same as she sees fit to sell at private sale or otherwise any or
all of said household goods.
4th I give to my wife Mary Arnold all my notes, monies, at interest and be
the same or less and to have the right to use said money as she sees fit during
her lifetime
5th I also give to my wife Mary two roan mares and one roan horse and gray
horse and one sorrell horse and also all the cattle that is on hand at my death
except one cow and two calves which belong to Alonzo A. Arnold my son
6th I also give my wife Mary all the hogs that may be on hands at my deth
7th I give to my wife Mary all the grain and hay and all the products of said
farm that may be on hands at my deth
8th I also give to my son Alonzo A. Arnold one hundred and forty four acres
of land situated in Shelby County in the State of Indiana and Liberty township
in said County and bounded as follows towit: On the East by the lands of
Samuel
Monrowe and on the South by the lands of James Kirkpatrick
and on the West by
the lands of Isaac Tindle and Goss and on the North by the lands of John Arnold
heir and James Trisler making 144 acres be the same more or less the said lands
is rented for a term of two years from March 1st 1873 for which I hold two notes
of hand one note payable March 1st 1874, calling for $4.00 and one payable March
1st 1875 calling for $4.00 and said notes payable to Joshua Arnold and signed by
Frederick Fagle and I want my said son Alonzo A. Arnold to have said notes for
said rent.
9th I give to my wife Mary twenty-five and three fourths of an acre and lying
in Liberty Township and Shelby County in the state of Indiana and bounded on the
South by the lands of James Howard and on the West by the lands of
N. Shote and
on the North by Thomas Jenkins heir and on the West by the lands of
Thompson making in all 25 ¾ acres which the records of Shelbyville will more fully show
and the said Mary is to have the right to dispose of said land as she sees fit
to sell either by private sale or otherwise to suit herself.
In witness whereof the said Joshua H. Arnold has set his hand and seal in the
presents of James Kirkpatrick and John Piles both of Shelby County and State of
Indiana and dated Aprile 25th 1873

Clerk of the Circuit Court of said County certify that the
foregoing is a correct copy of the Will of Joshua H. Arnold as appears on record
in my office.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix the seal of said
