Last Will and Testament
of
Alice C. Carson

I Alice C. Carson , of Shelby County, Indiana, being of sound mind and and lawful age do make and publish this my last Will & Testament, hereby revoking any and all former wills by me at any time made.
Item 1. It is my desire and I direct that all my just debts and funeral
expenses shall be duly paid.
Item 2. I direct that my Executor hereinafter named shall erect a monument of “Gray Granite,” at a cost of not less than $300.00 at my grave unless the same shall have been erected by me before my death.
Item 3. I give and devise Conwell Carson a nephew, the sum of $1000.00.
Item 4. I give and Devise to Bettie Alice Matten , a daughter of a niece the
sum of $1000.00.
Item 5. I give and devise to Gertrude Conover $1000.00.
Item 6. I give and devise to Mary Smith, Frances Smith, Ruth Smith, and Joe
Smith children of a niece, each the sum of $300.00.
Item 7. I give and bequeath in trust, the same to be held, by some trustee, for the benefit of the Boggstown Cemetery, the sum of $500.00; the annual interest on the same to be used, for keeping of Cemetery, and the fence around the same in good repair. I hereby designate the “The Shelbyville Trust Company” of Shelbyville Indiana as the trustee, to hold and loan said $500.00 and pay the interest thereon annually to the trustee of said Boggstown Cemetery Association for the purpose above stated.
Item 8. I give and devise to Mary Winfred Carson, my house and lot on west Franklin Street, in Shelbyville, Ind. together with all the furniture and contents therein,: She to give said contents of the same & divide the same with whomsoever she sees fit to give the same. And in case the house given to her shall, have burned, before she receives the same then she shall receive the insurance of said house.
Item 9. I give and devise to the Presbyterian Church of Boggstown Ind. the sum of $2000.00, the same to be held by “The Shelbyville Trust Company” of Shelbyville Ind. loaned by them and the interest paid to the Trustees of the Boggstown Church,
annually, for the maintenance of said Church, and in case said church shall at any time cease to exist, then in that event, said $2000.00 shall be paid to the Home Mission fund of Indianapolis Presbytery.
Item. 10. All the rest and residue of my estate I give and devise as follows: the one half thereof to the Gordon Shelby Children’s Home, and the other one half to the “Major Hospital”, of Shelby County, Indiana.
Item 11. I hereby nominate and apoint John R. Messick, Executor of this my
last will.

STATE OF INDIANA, SHELBY COUNTY SS:
Be it remembered that on the 8th day of February, 1918, the same being the 29th judicial day of the January Term, of the Shelby Circuit Court in said year, come into open court John Messick and produces in Court, an instrument in writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Alice C. Carson, deceased, and now moves the admittance thereof to probate and record, and in proof of said Will introduces Catherine Von Weaver one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court, on oath, declare and testify as follows, that is to say: That on the 22nd day of September, 1917, she saw the said Alice C. Carson, sign her name to said instrument in writing as and for her Last Will and Testament; and that this deponent, at the same time, heard the said Alice C. Carson, declare the said instrument in writing to be her last Will and Testament and that the said instrument in writing was, at the same time, at the request of the said Alice C. Carson and with her consent attested and subscribed by the said Catherine Von Weaver and D. L. Wilson in the presence of said testator, and in the presence of each other, as subscribing witnesses thereof, and that the said Alice C. Carson was, at the time of the signing and subscribing of said instrument in writing, as aforesaid, of full age, (that is more than twenty-one years of age) and of sound and disposing mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint, as the said deponent verily believes, and further said deponent says not.

Whereupon it is ordered, adjudged and decreed by the court that said instrument in writing purporting to be the last Will of Alice C. Carson, deceased, is the last Will and Testament of Alice C. Carson, deceased, and is hereby admitted to probate and record in this Court.

I, Cecil B. Collins, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Shelby County, Indiana, do hereby certify that the within annexed will and Testament of Alice C. Carson, has been duly admitted to probate, and duly proved by the testimony of Catherine Von Weaver, one of the subscribing witnesses thereof, that a complete record of said Will and of the testimony of said Catherine Von Weaver in proof thereof, has been by me duly made and recorded in Book 7 at pages 274 and 275 of the record of wills of said County,
IN ATTESTATION WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name, and
affixed the seal of said Court, at Shelbyville Indiana, this
8th day of February 1918.
