I, Abraham Balabaugh of the county of Shelby and State of Indiana being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first that my Executors hereinafter mentioned shall pay all my Just debts whatsoever out of the money that may first come into their hands as a part of my Estate. I give and devise to my beloved wife
Cristena all my land I now possess in the State of Indiana during her natural life including my mantion house – and all out houses and other improvements to have and to hold to her the said Cristena for and during the term of her natural life. I also leave to my wife all my housel property, farming utensils, stock of all kinds, crops of all kinds now on hand to keep or dispose of at her discretion at the death of my said wife my desire that my son
Jordan be supported by the profits of the land I now live one if there should not be money enough on hand for his support otherwise during his lifetime at the death of my wife I give and bequeath unto my two boys named
Aaron and Jacob all the land I now own to be equally divided between them with the exception of
Jordan support. After the death of my wife all the personal property be equally divided between my four daughters,
Nicy Oldham, Abigail Whited, Mary & Sarah
until they are maid equal with my other daughter Judeth Wright,
which I gave to my daughter Judeth one saddle, one colt, one good bed, one cow when she left me.
I gave to my daughter Nicy when she left me one bed, one cow. I gave to my daughter Abigail when she left me one bed, one cow.
If there should be any over making my four daughters equal It shall be equally divided between all my daughters, my oldest son
William I have give him I think what will make him Equal with my other two sons Aaron and Jacob.
And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my Beloved wife Cristena Balabaugh & my son William Balabaugh my lawful Executors to all Interests and purposes to execute my will and testament according to the true intent and
meaning of the same.
In witness whare of I the said Abraham Balabaugh have hear unto set my hand and seal this the 20th of September 1838.

Before me Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Probate Court of Shelby County personally came Larken Arnold and being by me duly sworn on Oath says he saw and heard Abraham Bollibaugh sign seal publish and declare the foregoing Instrument of writing as his last will and testament that he was of sound mind and memory at the time of its execution and that he (said Arnold) signed his name thereto as a witness at the request of and in the presence of the said testator and in the presence of Ransom Ridge the other subscribing witness thereto.

Which said Will is by me duly admitted to Probate and that a full and complete Record thereof and the proof and examination of Larken Arnold the witness by whom the same was proved have been duly Recorded in Letters of Administration Book “A” in pages 44 & 45.
Given under may hand and the seal of said Court this 7th day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four.
