Charlotte Kanopp
I, Charlotte Kanopp, of No. 70 North Noble Street in the City of Shelbyville, Shelby
County, Indiana, hereby make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all
former wills by me made.
Item 1. I desire that after my death all my property of every kind both real and personal shall
vest in my husband John Kanopp for and during the term of his life only, he to have the full
rents and interests or other income therefrom, but he to keep all said property in repair and to
pay all taxes thereon.
Item 2. After the death of my said husband John Kanopp, it is my desire that my daughter
Mrs.
Lena O'Neal shall become the owner of the following part of my real estate to wit:
Seventy six
(76) feet off the west end of the following described real estate: Beginning at the southeast
corner of Pennsylvania and Noble streets, in the City of Shelbyville, and running thence south
on Noble St. 42 feet; thence east 124 feet; thence north 42 feet; and thence west on the south
line of Pennsylvania St. 124 feet to the place of beginning, the same being a part of lot 38 on
the south side of Pennsylvania Street, this conveyance to include my present residence property
and I bequeath the same to her.
Item 3. After the death of my said husband it is my desire that my son
Henry Kanopp shall
become the owner opf 48 feet off of the east end of the tract or parcel of land above described,
the same being the residence of said tract, and to include the house and buildings in which said
Henry Kanopp now resides, and I bequeath the same to him.
Item 4. Should I not dispose of the same during my lifetime it is my desire that after my death
the following tract of land, now owned by me shall be sold, to wit: A part of the northeast
quarter of section 5 in Township 12 north and range 7 east as follows: Beginning at a position
on the south edgeof the Michigan Road 11 40/100 chains north of the sougheast corner of said
tract, running thence north 71 1/2 degrees west, 1 23 100 chains, thence south 18 1/2 degrees
west 2 50/100 chains, thence north 2 63/100 chains to the place of beginning, containing 41
3/4/100 [41.75 over 100] of an acre, more or less, such sale to be made by my said husband as
executor of this my last will in [?] his discression [sic], and the proceeds therefrom to be
placed at interest to the advantage and my said husband to have full income therefrom as his
own.
Item 5. Out of such proceeds above mentioned after the death of my husband, I desire that my
step daughter, Mrs. Ella Knight, be paid the sum of one hundres dollars ($100).
Item 6. I desire that the furniture now in the South bedroom of my residence aforesaid shall
after the death of my said husband become the property of my grandson John Van Pelt
O'Neal.
Item 7. I desire that the dining room furniture now in my present residence as aforesaid,
together with my sideboard and contents, shall after the death of my said husband become the
property of my daughter Mrs. Lena O'Neal.
Item 8. As to such rest and residue of my personal estate not herein devised, which may remain
after the payment of all my just debts and the necessary and proper funeral expenses of my said
husband after his death, I desire the same to be divided equally between my two children as
aforesaid. Mr. Lena O'Neal and Henry Kanopp. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal
this December 29 - 1900.

The foregoing instrument signed, sealed, and acknowledged by the said Charlotte Kanopp as and
for her last will and testament by her in our presence and we at her rquest in her presence and
in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses hereto, this 29th
day of December 1900

Be it remembered that on the 15th day of Ap[ril 1901 the 31 Judicial day of the March Term of
the Shelby Circuit Court in said year, came into open Court John Kanopp
and produces in court an
instrument in writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Charlotte
Kanopp,
deceased, and now moves the admittance thereof to probate record, and in proof of said will
introduces Erastus W. McDaniel one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who, being duly sworn
by the Clerk of said Court on oath delcare and testify as follows, that is to say, that on the
29" [sic] day of December 1900, he saw the said Charlotte Kanopp sign her name to said
instrument in writing as and for her last will and testament and that the said instrument in
writing was, at the same time at the request of the said Charlotte Kanopp and with her consent
attested and subscribed by the said E.W. McDaniel, Henry Briggeman, and
Mary Cawein in the
presence of said testator, and in the presence of each other, as subscribing witnesses thereto,
and that the said Charlotte Kanopp was, at the time of the signing and subscribing of said
instrument in writing as aforesaid, of full age that is more than twenty one years of age; and
of sougn and disposing mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint, as the said
deponent verily believes, and further deponent says not.

the within annexed will and testament of Charlotte Kanopp has been duly admitted to probate and
duly proved by the testimony of E. W. McDaniel one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, that a
complete record of said will and of the testimony of said deponent in proof thereof has been by
me duly made and recorded in Book 4 at pages 11-112-113 of the record of wills aforesaid County

Shelbyville this 15th day of April 1901
