Filed for Invalid Army Pension May 7, 1879
Contracted Hemiplegia, Paralysis at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia on 30th June
1864 .
Right side of body and leg are contracted. Right eye inflamed and
sight
nearly destroyed. He was admitted to Hospital 3 Division 20 Army Corps June 8 1864 with
Diarrhoea and returned to duty June 10, 1864. No further record of
soldier's
treatment found. (Surgeon General's Office 3/14/1882)
Filed for Increase of Invalid Pension June 22, 1885 (From $8 per month to $14)
Sarah filed for Widows Pension on 13 July 1886 as a widow for William
Baker
in the war of "1861".... Box 35353, cert 227884. It included a certified copy of their Marriage Certificate (William Baker
married to Sarah E. Rice on 3 June 1852 - Joseph Cotton minister, Shelby
County, IN)
Lists Dora Baker as the only legitimate child yet surviving who was under
sixteen years of age at father's death (born Dec 12, 1871, a boy or male).
It included a Proof of Birth for Dora Baker by Isaac W. Inlow
who attended
as Accoucheur on Sarah E. Baker when Dora Baker was born.
Sarah also filed for an increase in pension on 18 September 1916.
