E. B. PERRY.

Ezekiel Beasley Perry, a pioneer of Hartford, and a member  of the original Board of the "Hartford Collegiate Institute", was born in Mason County, Kentucky, December 2, 1811,  He was the son of English parents.  He moved with his parents to Brown County, Ohio, in his 15th year, then to Shelby County, Indiana.
He was married to  Mary Bonner  in Indiana, August 3, 1836.  Mrs. Perry was born in Ohio, April 25, 1821,  She was the daughter of  James Bonner.  Mr. and Mrs. Perry came from Edgar County, Illinois, to Kansas, in November, 1859, settling on Eagle Creek, near Elmendaro, then the county seat of Madison County.  They made their trip in a covered wagon drawn by oxen.  The trip took six weeks.  They felt that their children would have more of a chance in this new country.
Mr. Perry was State Chaplin of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas; and a local Methodist preacher for thirty-four years.  Mr. Perry and  his wife had a large share in moulding the character of Elmendaro Townshi[p] in its formation period.
The family later moved to Hartford where they were very activ[e.]  Mr. Perry died of Spotted Fever, February 13, 1873, at Hartford; and Mrs. Perry passed away at Hartford, June 6th, 1887.
