BLUE  RIVER,  Jan. 15, 1886.
Melvin Walker  and wife are on the sick list.
A fine horse belonging to  Harrison Rhoads  died Sunday.
Protracted meeting at Pleasant Hill is in progress,  Rev. B. F. Morgan  officiating.
          J. T.  and  J. R. Kennerly  contemplate moving to their newly acquired property in Shelbyville next week.
Ed Moberly  and  Carrie Yarling,  eldest daughter of  John Yarling,  were united in the holy bonds of matrimony Wednesday evening at the home of the bride, by Rev. Morgan.
Ed. at last the step has taken,
May his path with bliss abound.
May he ne'er at midnight awaken
                By a mournful squeaking sound.
Hugh Leech,  successor of  Seth Lisher  as teacher at No. 1, is entering upon duty in a satisfactory manner, considering the element under instruction and defensive weapons carried by the "kids."  Hugh is the right man in the right place.
To "L. L.:"  As for "casting instructions", the whole tenor of your conglomeration of slurs seems to be based upon such.  Please note carefully the distinction between "sexton" and "janitor."  Your dictionary is certainly out of date.  Scratch your stupid pate and "post up" a little.  Meanwhile  Col. Gaines  has resigned his office as janitor, and the honor has been conferred upon  Isaac Ash.
