YOUR TOWN — DOBLESTOWN

Doblestown and Vinton were important settlements in the stage coach days,
they were stations on the old Michigan Road and served an important purpose
while the country was getting a start. Doblestown in Moral township was laid off
by William Doble on October 3, 1837

The Town of Doblestown
The town of Doblestown is situate on the Michigan road in Section 24, township 14, Range 5 East in Shelby County and State of Indiana. The length of the lots also the width of the lots, street and allies are marked in feet on them. Main street runs South 54 degrees East all cross streets and allies run North 36 feet East. Surveyed this 30th Sept. 1836

Personally appeared before the recorder of said county William A. Doble the proprietor of Doblestown and acknowledged the same to be his voluntary act and deed.
